Which Grohe Models This Applies To

Grohe labels its pressure balance cartridges with a four-digit part number stamped on the brass collar, visible once you remove the escutcheon plate. The 46048 and 46092 cartridges fit most Eurocube and Eurodisc bath-shower valves installed in Sunnyvale additions from 2015 forward. The GrohFlex Rough-In Box, model 35026000, uses a different cartridge entirely, the 48090000, and the two are not interchangeable despite similar exterior trim.

To identify your part, shut the water at the home’s main, remove the handle and escutcheon, and read the collar stamp. If the stamp is worn away, measure the cartridge body: the 46048 is 46 mm diameter, the 48090000 is 52 mm. Signs Your Grohe Fixture Is Failing

• Persistent drip from the spout or showerhead when the valve is off. The ceramic discs inside the cartridge have eroded from Sunnyvale’s mineral content, and the seal no longer seats fully. The drip starts intermittent, then becomes constant within a few weeks.
• Temperature fluctuation during a shower, especially when a toilet flushes or dishwasher cycles. The pressure balance piston is sticking in its bore, usually from scale buildup. We see this particularly in Lakewood Village and neighborhoods near Washington Park where older water mains were replaced in the 2010s and stirred up decades of sediment.

DIY or Call Us?

What you can safely check: the water shutoff location, whether the drip is from the spout or the handle base, and the cartridge part number if the escutcheon comes off easily. Take photos at each step; the documented photo record we provide as standard is useful because most owners forget which way the cartridge oriented.

Where DIY goes wrong: Grohe cartridges are keyed and can be forced in backward, destroying the O-ring seal. The retaining clip is small and easily dropped down the drain. More critically, if you crack the valve body while forcing a stuck cartridge, you’re now looking at a wall-opening repair and a possible permit re-inspection in a permitted ADU. The water shutoff must hold completely; a gate valve with mineral buildup may not seal, and you’ll flood the room.
