The spring-balance systems in some Jerith double-hung units are under tension and can release suddenly if the balance shoe is not locked before disassembly. We do not recommend homeowner disassembly of these assemblies. For glass replacement, the IGU must be measured to a 1/16-inch tolerance and ordered with the correct thickness to maintain the original deflection rating.
